Ama Divers’ Seaside Stories Tour
Discover the culture of the Ama Divers, a tradition that has been passed down for more than 3,000 years.
This summer-only guided tour takes you to Osatsu, the town with the largest population of Ama Divers in Japan.
Your journey begins at the Toba Observatory, where you can enjoy panoramic views of Ise-Shima National Park. As you take in the stunning coastline and the Pacific Ocean, your guide will introduce you to the sea where the Ama Divers have worked for generations.
For lunch, visit a traditional Ama Hut and enjoy a seafood meal featuring freshly grilled shellfish. While dining, you will have the opportunity to meet local Ama Divers, hear their stories, and enjoy a traditional dance performed by the women of the community.
After lunch, enjoy approximately one hour exploring Osatsu based on your interests.
If you would like to learn more about the culture of the Ama Divers, your guide can take you to a small museum and a shrine that is deeply connected to their traditions. If you prefer to enjoy the summer seaside atmosphere, you can spend time at the beach, take a relaxing walk along the shore, and listen to the sound of the waves.
Spend a special summer day experiencing the culture of the Ama Divers, the beauty of the coastline, and the warm hospitality of the local community.
