Media & Research Inquiries on Ama Divers

We are the management team of Oz Aiko Ltd. Our company has been engaged in regional and fishing village revitalization through ecotourism in the Ise-Shima region for the past 25 years. We also coordinate interviews and media coverage.
We truly appreciate your interest in Aiko, a traditional ama (female diver), as well as in the ama culture and economy of Ise-Shima.
Aiko is both an ama and a photographer. Her daily diving work takes top priority, and the administrative tasks involved in media arrangements and the interview day itself can be quite burdensome. While the local fishing village community is currently supportive, if Aiko has to continue sacrificing her diving time, it may eventually hinder the ability to share ama culture with the world. For the sake of sustainability—both for Aiko and the community—we ask for your understanding in coordinating all arrangements through our company.

Please note the following:
• Filming inside Aiko’s home is not permitted.
• To ensure that fishing grounds cannot be identified, certain filming methods may be restricted.
• Depending on the season, it may not be possible to accompany Aiko during her diving hours. In such cases, we may suggest an alternative date or filming location.
• A cost estimate will be provided based on the details and scope of the project.
